Before using Sophos, what were your biggest struggles with studying?

I used to feel completely lost with Physics. No matter how much I revised, I just couldn’t get my head around certain topics, and I didn’t know where to start with exam questions. I’d try to work through them on my own, but I always second-guessed my answers and wasn’t sure if I was revising the right way.

If you had to pick one game-changing feature of Sophos, what would it be and why?

Definitely working with my tutor, Grace. Having her explain things directly to me, at my pace, made such a huge difference. If I didn’t understand something, I could ask straight away, and she’d explain it in a different way until it finally clicked. It felt so much more personal and helpful than just watching random videos online or reading my textbook.

What’s been your favourite moment while using Sophos? Any "aha!" moments?

When I finally understood electricity! Grace broke everything down step by step and used real-life examples to explain circuits in a way that actually made sense. Before that, I always got confused with things like voltage and resistance, especially in series and parallel circuits, but after that session, it felt so much clearer.

How did it feel when you saw your grades go up? Did you expect such a big jump?

I couldn’t believe it! I knew I was improving, but I never thought I’d jump three grades. Seeing my hard work pay off made me feel so proud, and it proved to me that I was capable of so much more than I originally thought.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your past self about revision?

Start sooner and don’t just read notes — actually test yourself! And if you don’t understand something, don’t waste hours stressing over it—ask for help. Having a tutor explain things properly saved me so much time and frustration.

What would you say to a student who’s unsure if Sophos is right for them?

Just try it! I was nervous at first, but everyone at Sophos was so friendly and made everything feel way less stressful. I had a free trial lesson with Grace first and I knew it was a good fit once I'd met her. If you’re struggling, having someone guide you through it can honestly make all the difference.
